On Friday, March 8, La Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi hosts its Benefit Gala 2019 at Cipriani Wall Street, bringing together the Italian-American community of New York to celebrate Excellence in Education.
This year, Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe receives the title Honoree, alongside Bocconi Rector Gianmario Verona. Professor Prencipe states: “I am so pleased to receive this recognition because it is an acknowledgment of the outstanding work our University is doing. Luiss, continuing to climb in global rankings thanks to our constant dedication to updating our course offerings, aims to model its students through humanistic preparation paired with a vital digital literacy.”
“The mission of Luiss University is to train a generation of professionals that are aware of their roots but highly flexible and open-minded, international, cosmopolitan and able to reinvent themselves for the professions of the future. With 40 visiting professors, over 1,000 opportunities each year to study abroad, open collaborations with 270 universities in 55 countries and 40 Double Degrees and structured partnerships, Luiss connects Rome with the world. For us, internationalization means teaching cultural diversity. Tomorrow’s leaders will also be able to think about the digital world,” added Professor Andrea Prencipe.
Since 1977, La Scuola d'Italia Guglielmo Marconi, a private school recognized by MAECI and the Board of Regents of the State of New York, offers a multilingual path from pre-school to high school, issuing the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma.
As Maria Palandra, Principal of La Scuola d’Italia, explains: “Our decision to honor the heads of Italy’s most international and most well-known universities demonstrates the importance La Scuola d’Italia places on multilingual and multicultural education, combining the best of Italian and American educational tradition to shape empathetic and open individuals.”
Participating in the gala are over 350 members of the Italian-American community, from business leaders to representatives of cultural and governmental institutions, such as Italian Ambassador to the United States Armando Varricchio and Italian Consul in New York Francesco Genuardi.
This year, La Scuola d’Italia also recognizes Women of Distinction, women who, through their work, passion and creativity, have had an impact on the lives of other women and will inspire future generations.
