Luca Occhetti: an award-winning thesis in automobile marketing

LUISS graduate Luca Occhetti won the UNRAE (association of foreign carmakers operating in Italy) scholarship for his thesis on automobile marketing.

In September 2013 he began a bachelor’s degree program in Economics and Management before registering for the master’s program in Marketing, with an experimental thesis on barriers consumers face regarding driverless cars.

During the second year of his master’s program, Luca did an Erasmus project with the University of Amsterdam. “It was an interesting and educational experience that I would recommend to everyone. Holland is an avant-garde country that challenges you, allowing young people to enter the job market immediately.”

Today Luca works as the assistant to the general director of Renault Retail Group: "During my master’s program I did a six-month internship with the company which allowed me to get a deep understanding of the automotive world and put what I learned in the books to work.”

“In addition to its top faculty, LUISS allowed me to come in contact with a variety of companies, from large automotive distributors to consulting companies and banks. It is thanks to the University’s wide network that I am in this position,” explains Luca.

Winning the UNRAE scholarship was “an indescribable satisfaction, a recognition of the work I have done throughout my academic career.”

“In addition to a cash prize, the scholarship will allow Luca to attend the master’s program in Automotive Marketing offered by Accademia Editoriale Domus and Quattroruote: "The program will give me high-level training in the automotive world to best operate in any situation that may present itself in a marketing division.”

In the future, Luca hopes to continue working in the sector and increasing his knowledge to give a substantial contribution to the development of driverless vehicles.”
