"It was a milestone for me,” she recalls, “a time of personal and academic growth, an incomparable gift that became the inspiration for my subsequent choices and achievements."

The adventure of an Erasmus study abroad program in Lisbon drove her to indulge her passion for traveling, to experience a reality that was completely different from the one she knew. In this sense, Shanghai was perfect: "I always believed that this opportunity at Fudan had enormous potential, especially considering the impact it would have on my future."

The months Ida spent in Shanghai were quite intense, starting with the need to adapt to a new environment: "It took me several weeks to accept that my life would change for a year: the language, the people, the weather, the food. Slowly my daily life was blended with that of 20 million other people." These twenty million people included her colleagues in the program, who quickly became friends that she could share lots of things with: living together, going to university, nights out, trips, the rewards of the program as well as their anxieties and difficulties. A Christmas together, different than the usual one. Obstacles and opportunities that "led me along a path that would turn me into the person I wanted to become."

For Ida, being able to make her own way, 10,000 km away from home, was a real source of pride, the same pride she feels now in her position as category finance manager at Findus Italia, where she has worked for three years.

She has faced and overcome professional challenges as well, thanks to the tenacity and confidence that she gained in Shanghai: "A university can educate you, but China transforms you.”
