The IDMO project (Italian Digital Media Observatory), coordinated by the Director Gianni Riotta and Prof. Livia De Giovanni, has been approved and funded in relation to the CEF-TC-2020-2 EDMO European call. Luiss coordinates the project, which will last two and a half years and whose partnership is made up of 8 international entities (RAI, T6 Ecosystem srl, University of Tor Vergata, NewGuard Technologies GmbH, Gruppo Gedi Editoriale Spa, Pagella Politics srls, Tim, as well as Luiss).
The project deals with the fight against fake news by adopting a strategy to monitor the flow of information (from source to consumers) with the assistance of AI-based tools. This modus operandi will not only allow to identify the most vulnerable and sensitive target audiences to such disinformation, but also to detect mechanisms and dynamics that lead to sharing. In addition, the project aims to actively involve subjects at greater risk of becoming fake news targets, in order to provide them with tools to prevent and counter the potential impact.
The press conference for the presentation of the Italian Hub, IDMO - Italian Observatory on digital media, was held at Luiss' premises on September 20th, 2021. The Observatory is part of EDMO - European Observatory on digital media, a network conceived by the European Commission as a reference point to analyse and fight disinformation.
