On 21 November, Luiss Guido Carli will award the title of Alumna Luiss 2024 on Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, Director General of the Department of Information for Security (DIS), during the traditional ceremony honouring graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional achievements and significant contributions to the community.
A Model of Leadership and Dedication for the Luiss Community
Having graduated with honours in Political Science from Luiss in 1982, Ms Belloni has enjoyed a distinguished diplomatic career that began in 1985 at the Farnesina, within the Political Affairs Directorate.
After various assignments abroad between 1986 and 1999, she returned to Italy, where she held institutional roles at the Farnesina. From 2002 to 2004, he was Head of the Secretariat of the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, then head of the Crisis Unit. From 2008 to 2012, she was Director General for Development Cooperation and, between 2013 and 2015, Director General for Resources and Innovation. Promoted to Ranking Ambassador in 2014, the following year Ms Belloni took up the post of Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. From 2016 to 2021, she served as Secretary General of the Farnesina and, since 2021, she has been the Director General of the DIS, becoming the first woman in this pivotal role coordinating national security. In March 2024, she was also appointed Sherpa for the G7 and G20.

The Alumna of the Year award, presented annually by the Luiss Board of Directors, honours former students who stand out for their contributions to society and their professional achievements.
