The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition chooses a different case to study each year. In 2016, the theme was international responsibility for cyber attacks, arbitrary detention of individuals, admissibility of files as evidence before a court and the legality of mass surveillance. To resolve the case, teams prepared written depositions and oral presentations for both sides.

The LUISS Department of Law has participated in the competition since 2014, when it was invited by the European board of the American organization. The invitation was welcomed by Professor of International Law Angela Del Vecchio, while participation in the team was open to all LUISS International Law students.

After satisfying results in both 2014 and 2015, LUISS won the Italian national competition and Best New Team for their first three years of participation. Sara Castegni was also awarded Best Oralist during the preliminary and final rounds.
