On Tuesday, May 7, the Viale Romania campus hosted the 23rd annual Luiss Career Day and the Master Graduation Ceremony for students who completed master's programs in 2017-2018.
To mark the occasion, the University launched #LuissPlasticLess, a campaign to bring awareness to the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastic.
The initiative is part of the #StopSingleUsePlastic campaign promoted by Associazione Marevivo, CoNISMa and Crui, in line with the position of the EU Parliament and with the European proposal to ban sales of several products in single-use plastic starting in 2021.
During the event, 10,000 reuseable water bottles were distributed to students, while new water fountains are being installed on campus. Furthermore, hot drink machines will only use single-use paper cups. The University also inaugurated the #LuissWaterBar, an incubator for art and sustainability, where students can taste a variety of flavored waters, designed to stimulate reflection on the importance of water as a common good.
"In launching #LuissPlasticLess, the University makes an important step in becoming a sustainable campus, involving the entire Luiss community of students, academics and staff, to raise awareness on respecting the environment and protecting our most important resource, water," underlined Luiss General Manager Giovanni Lo Storto. "Giving space to the value of common responsibility during a day like Career Day is an important message that we would like to send to companies and, especially, to our students, the professionals of tomorrow, to bring forward principles and practices to promote sustainable economic and social development."
