RUniPace is the Network of Italian Universities for Peace promoted by the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities. The network gathers the Universities inspired by the fundamental principles of the Italian Constitution, the Charter of the United Nations, the founding treaties of the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Council of Europe.
Deeply concerned about what is happening in Ukraine and driven by the conviction that building and consolidating Peace is one of the pillars of academia, Luiss endorses its appeal.
Strong and immediate diplomatic action conducted in good faith by all parties is the only way to address the complexities of this conflict.
For this reason, Luiss joins the appeal made by UN Secretary-General on February 23rd to respect the principles of the UN Charter, establish a ceasefire and engage in dialogue and negotiations, reaffirming the importance of peace and dialogue as irreplaceable values for the coexistence of peoples and condemning all acts of violence and all violations of human rights or fundamental freedoms.
Luiss stands in solidarity with all those involved and would like to convey the entire academic community in Ukraine deepest sympathy.
Luiss continues to follow the development of events and is considering the possibility of taking concrete actions to support colleagues and students who are victims of the situation, including facilitating the return of students who are currently in conflict zones.
